Koronet Pizzeria 2848 Broadway (between 111th St & Cathedral Pky). Famous for ridiculously large pizza slices.
Sal & Carmine’s Pizza 2671 Broadway (between 101st St & 102nd St). Well-like local pizza shop.
Roti Roll Bombay Frankie 994 Amsterdam Avenue (between 108th St & 109th St). Mostly takeout, Indian burrito.
Coffee and Pastry:
The Hungarian Pastry Shop 1030 Amsterdam Ave (between Cathedral Pky & 111th St). Local, idiosyncratic classic. Free refills on coffee to stay. Can get crowded. No wi-fi.
Absolute Bagels 2788 Broadway (between 108th and 107th). Simple, New York bagel shop.
Joe the Art of Coffee 550 W 120th St (between Amsterdam Ave & Broadway, Columbia University’s Northwest Corner Building, 2nd Floor). Excellent, local, high-end coffee chain. Plenty of sitting room, but fills up fast.
Oren’s 2882 Broadway (between 111th St & 112th St). Good Starbucks alternative, but very small.

Fairway Market 2328 12th Avenue (between 133 & 132 streets) Best local supermarket. Has good prepared food for take-out.
M2M 2935 Broadway (betw 114th & 115th streets) Pan-Asia convenience market and deli.
Columbia Greenmarket (Broadway btwn 114th & 116th Streets) Th/Su 8am-5pm. Small farmers’ market.

Culture 72 West 38th Street (between 5th and 6th ave). Australian espresso shop. Some work space, but often full.
Stumptown 18 West 29th street (between Broadway & 5th ave): Excellent coffee. Work space in the hotel lobby.
Gregory’s Coffee 874 6th Avenue (corner of 31st Str). Local mini-chain alternative to Starbucks. Sitting on two levels.
Tous le Jour 31 West 32nd Street (between 5th and 6th ave). Korean bakery café with a large sitting area.
Panera 452 5th Avenue (between 40th and 39th str). Free coffee refills. Large sitting and work area.
